Autism Spectrum and PDD Evaluations

Child, Adolescent, Adult

In recent years, the diagnostic rate of autism and related disorders, such as Asperger’s Syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, has been increasing in our society. However, there remains a good deal of confusion about what constitues these disorders. Disorders on the “autism spectrum” involve differences in an individual’s emotions, thought processes, behavior, and/or social interaction. For example, a lack of appropriate reciprocal emotions or interest in social relationships, the presence of repetitive motor movements, a very specific and focused area of interest, and/or atypical communication patterns can be signals that autism or a similar disorder is present. While such diagnoses are often associated with children, psychological testing allows the clinicians at LifeTrek to discern whether a diagnosis on the autism spectrum is appropriate for any given individual, be it a child, adolescent, or adult.

A common question regarding assessment is the fee for services. The fee for testing is dependent on the nature of the referral question and the tests that will be most useful in addressing that question, and therefore is determined on a case-by-case basis.
